Manali Tourism : Things to Do in Manali - Sterling Holidays

Trekking Manali is a walker’s paradise with its thickly forested trails, mountainous backdrop, and energising atmosphere. You could say that all of Manali is one big walking trail.

Rafting White water rafting through Grade II and III rapids on the Beas is an exhilarating experience. The tranquil surroundings recede into the background as the adrenaline gets into top gear as one is tossed, turned and twisted by the rapids. Rafting expeditions typically leave from Pirdi near Kullu and last over an hour and a half, ending at Jhirni. If you like to take it easy, Manikaran offers slow Grade I rapids.

Zorbing A relatively new and hugely enjoyable activity offered in the Solang Valley. It involves rolling down the valley’s slopes inside a huge inflatable ball called a ‘zorb’. Zorbing has its origins in New Zealand, and is a major attraction for tourists.

Paragliding There’s no better way of getting a blood rush than leaping from a mountain top and gliding in the cool air above the trees. There are short flights that start 100-150 metres up a slope and last for a minute-and-a-half, and longer flights that last for almost half an hour. No matter which you opt for, the memory of sailing through the air will stay with you a long time.

Skiing Manali is one of the best skiing spots in India, with both winter and summer skiing ranges. Solang Nullah, Patalsu, Kothi, Marhi and Rohtang are the most popular slopes and beginners can get equipment and training from registered qualified personnel.

Horse riding Riding horseback is yet another way to enjoy the beautiful panorama at Solang Nala.
