It\u2019s time to celebrate a magnificent creature that calls the Gir National Park its home, Asiatic Lions. The 10th of August is celebrated as <\/span>International Lion Day<\/span> every year, to raise awareness about conservation and the protection of their habitat. With climate change and the depletion of forests across the globe, lions are facing the vulnerability of extinction. This day serves as a platform to educate people about the importance of forest conservation, as well as to celebrate the beauty of these royal big cats.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The first <\/span>Lion Day celebration<\/span> was by the Big Cat Rescue in 2013, an organisation dedicated to preserving exotic wildcat species that later entered a partnership with National Geographic under a single banner to protect these big cats. To celebrate this day, artists and wildlife photographers put their art on display as a way to bring awareness about the threats faced by lions. Many events are also organised to educate people about the conservation strategies by the various wildlife organisations around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

To celebrate <\/span>World Lion Day 2024<\/span>, we suggest a weekend trip to Gir National Park.
