Fresh catch. No nonsense. Just amazing flavour.&#8221; A few weeks later, that casual comment stuck with me and <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Karwar <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ended up being one of those places that doesn&#8217;t just fill you up; it leaves a lasting impression.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Sitting quietly along the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Karnataka coast<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, just <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">90 km south of Goa<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Karwar <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">is this peaceful, laid-back town where rivers meet the sea. But for me, it was all about the incredible food, which was rich, authentic, and deeply satisfying. If you&#8217;re someone who travels for the food, this <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">coastal treasure<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> should definitely be on your list.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Where the Magic Happens: My Top Karwar Eats<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I started my food adventure at <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Amrut Restaurant<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, this unassuming little place on <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Green Street<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, was located just five minutes from <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Karwar Beach<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. I went for their <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">famous fish thali<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, a generous portion of rice, a bowl of <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">beautiful pink solkadi<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> cooled with coconut milk and cumin, tangy <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Bangude curry<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, golden crispy fried kingfish, and a spoonful of seriously spicy chutney. Every bite was magic, still you could taste the depth of traditional recipes passed down through families.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Next, I made my way to <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Hotel Bhadra<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, close to the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Kali Bridge<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> on <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Kaiga Road<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. You absolutely must try their <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">prawn sukka<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> which is a perfectly cooked prawns tossed with roasted coconut, garlic, red chillies, and curry leaves. It&#8217;s one of those dishes that makes you stop talking mid-conversation, especially when you&#8217;re eating it with those soft, delicate <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">neer dosas.<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> I honestly couldn&#8217;t help myself and ordered another portion.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">When I needed something sweet, I ended up at <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pai&#8217;s Sweets<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, just off <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Main Bazar Road<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, where I tried <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Kharvas<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> which is this incredibly soft milk pudding made from colostrum that&#8217;s subtly sweet. They also had <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Patoleo <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">(jaggery-coconut dumplings wrapped in turmeric leaves), which made everything in my bag smell incredible for hours.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Getting to Karwar:<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Getting there is pretty easy:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">By Road:<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> About a <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">2-hour drive (90 km) from Goa&#8217;s Dabolim Airport<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> through some really scenic palm-covered hills and coastal roads.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">By Train: Karwar Railway Station<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> connects to the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Konkan<\/span><\/b> <b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">line <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">you can easily get there from <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Mumbai, Mangalore, and Goa<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">By Air:<\/span><\/b> <b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Dabolim in Goa (GOI)<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> is your closest airport. From there, just grab a cab or take a <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">KSRTC bus.<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">It&#8217;s only about an hour&#8217;s drive from <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Gokarna<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> too, which makes it perfect for combining a food trip with some beach time.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">When to Visit:<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I&#8217;d recommend planning your food journey between <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">October and March<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> when the weather&#8217;s great, the sea&#8217;s calm, and the seafood is incredibly fresh. If you can time it right, festivals like <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Karavali Utsav<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> (usually happens in January) bring out temporary food stalls with traditional dishes that restaurants don&#8217;t always serve.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I&#8217;d skip the monsoon season <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">(June to September)<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> unless you don&#8217;t mind running between food spots in the rain, though the landscape does look pretty dramatic when it&#8217;s all lush and green.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Where I Stayed: Good Food and Great Views<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I booked into <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sterlingholidays.com\/resorts-hotels\/karwar?utm_source=google&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_campaign=karwar@adkr_Oct24&amp;gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=21774437264&amp;gbraid=0AAAAAo1IS0BR9SItlVrnvAFKOOpgOda9z&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjwgb_CBhBMEiwA0p3oOAa10-WPtGI_njJ35BYFVFv2ZrN68k7EZaxHEPO-fSgf7Gt1yM_3mhoC7PoQAvD_BwE\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Sterling Karwar<\/span><\/b><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, right by the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Kali River banks<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, near <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Sadashivgad Fort<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. It was honestly the perfect spot to unwind after all that eating. My room looked out over the river, and the peaceful atmosphere was exactly what I needed to slow down and really appreciate everything I&#8217;d experienced.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Their in-house restaurant <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">RASA <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">was surprisingly good too. They served <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Tisrya Sukke<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Bhindi Solkadi<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> that was as good as the best places in town.
