{"id":5854,"date":"2015-05-11T11:41:55","date_gmt":"2015-05-11T11:41:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sterlingholidays.com\/blog\/?p=5854"},"modified":"2024-11-25T12:15:33","modified_gmt":"2024-11-25T12:15:33","slug":"natures-playground-sariska-part-iv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sterlingholidays.com\/blog\/natures-playground-sariska-part-iv\/","title":{"rendered":"Nature\u2019s Playground \u2013 Sariska Part IV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>In the fourth and final part of the series on Sariska, traveler and writer\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shireen Bharucha<\/a> draws a vivid description of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sterlingholidays.com\/resorts-hotels\/sariska\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sterling Holidays Sariska \u2013 Tiger Heaven<\/a>, the newest addition to our family of resorts, and literally a heaven for all those who love to find peace far from the madding crowd.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the second day of our stay, my husband and I explore the environs of Tiger Heaven.\u00a0 The sylvan surroundings are delightful with numerous trees, shrubs and plants.\u00a0 The beautiful flowering trees attract birds.\u00a0 The Bauhinia Variegata or Indian Orchid tree with its exquisite five petalled blooms in hues of pink entice parakeet who make a meal of the flowers.\u00a0 Birds in large numbers feed on the lusciously golden fruit of the Bead Tree also known as White Cedar which has delicate lilac flowers.\u00a0 The Flame of the Forest also called Bastard Teak bears flamboyant, heady scented, bright orange-red blossoms which lure bees and butterflies.\u00a0 Giant beehives hang from a couple of trees and atop one tree is a nest. Yet other trees have large triangular spider webs. Outside Machan is a wide canopied Red Mulberry Tree that has succulent fruit throughout the year, attracting a myriad species of birds.\u00a0\u00a0 The dainty, deep red shoe flowers and red and pink roses are gorgeous.\u00a0 Behind the swimming pool is a patch of light blue floss flowers which tempt bees and colourful butterflies.\u00a0 Rarely do so many butterflies converge at one spot.\u00a0 This place could be converted into a little butterfly garden.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6122\" style=\"width: 1150px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sterlingholidays.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Bauhinia-Variegata-sariska-tiger-heaven.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6122\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-6122 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sterlingholidays.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Bauhinia-Variegata-sariska-tiger-heaven.jpg\" alt=\"Bauhinia Variegata sariska tiger heaven\" width=\"1140\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6122\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bauhinia Variegata<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The resort is also great for birding.\u00a0 Not only do we see all the birds that we saw on the safari, but some that we did not see,\u00a0 like the Indian grey hornbill and the brown backed, white throated kingfisher.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Water birds are not seen here.\u00a0 Peafowl, rock pigeons, half-collared doves do not restrict themselves to the trees, but perch on the roofs of cottages, or strut near the swimming pool.\u00a0 Red-wattled lapwings are a common sight.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Later, we accompany Mr. Sarkar to the resort\u2019s waterhole where a trio of sambar quenching their thirst makes for a thrilling sight.\u00a0 We are also shown the special feeding area for peafowl.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As we walk back to our room we watch children play cricket, badminton and of course swim.\u00a0 This sprawling resort offers plenty of scope for outdoor games.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">From the rear balcony of our room we get a feel of charming rural life.\u00a0 The turbaned and dhoti clad men sit around on benches outside their residence sipping tea, while the women wearing multi huedghagras (skirts) with self colouredcholis(blouses) and bright ghoongats (veils) work in the fields harvesting the wheat manually.\u00a0 Children play with a pet white goat with a braided orange collar around its neck, reminding one of the nursery rhyme Mary Had A Little Lamb!\u00a0 The buffalos are chained to their posts.\u00a0 A little black pup playfully nuzzles its mother.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After tea we saunter along a path from the resort which leads to the main road.\u00a0 It\u2019s a pleasant walk lined with pretty lantana, on which butterflies sit, milkweed and other wild flowers.\u00a0 We come across the usual birds and some more like a partridge, a black red start and other small birds we are unable to identify.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A lone palm squirrel scampers around.
