Shri Baba Harivallabh Sangeet Sammelan, Jalandhar


Possibly the oldest Indian classical music festival in the world, Shri Baba Harivallabh Sangeet Sammelan is organised every year in Jalandhar, the city that harbours the sepulchre of Baba Harivallabh, a great exponent of classical music. The first festival was held in 1875 and the tradition has been continuing ever since. Many eminent artists from India and Pakistan take part in the festival and the event attracts huge crowds from all over the country and abroad.

Rajasthan International Folk Festival, Jodhpur, Rajasthan


Rajasthan International Folk Festival also referred to as Jodhpur RIFF, held around the time of Sharad Purnima when the full moon shines in all its glory, witnesses Mehrangarh Fort resplendent with spectacular concerts. This festival celebrates folk music of the desert and is a joint venture initiated by Mehrangarh Music Trust and Jaipur Virasat Foundation. The festival gained international acknowledgement with UNESCO labelling it as ‘’’People’s Platform for Creativity and Sustainable Development’’.

Hornbill Festival, Nagaland


This music festival celebrates the diversity and unity of the 16 tribes that inhabit Nagaland and offers an insight into their beautiful and colourful culture. This festival was conceptualised by the Tourism Board of Nagaland and the Art and Culture departments to encourage the tribals to showcase their talent and mark their presence on the global map. The festival comprises of an exhibition of handicrafts, flower shows, beauty contests, food stalls and Rock Music concerts.

The festival is held at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama and is an annual affair since the year 2000.
