I read this quote by John Muir “The mountains are calling, and I must go “as a  traveler I have resonated with this quote very much because as someone who cherishes solitude and harmony with nature, I wanted a stay that mirrored Wayanad’s untamed spirit a place where the boundary between comfort and wilderness blurred and Sterling Wayanad extended me that experience.

Places I Visited while exploring Wayanad

Lakkidi ViewpointWhere the clouds kiss the hills. My journey began at Lakkidi, one of the highest points in Wayanad, often called the “Gateway of Wayanad.” The winding roads leading up to the viewpoint were thrilling with dense forests on either side. The panoramic of the valley covered in mist was surreal. Early mornings are magical as golden sunlight piercing through the clouds.

Pookode Lake – A Serene Escape

A short drive from Lakkidi, Pookode Lake greeted me with its tranquil blue waters surrounded by lush forests. The fresh mountain air and the gentle ripples of the lake made it an ideal spot for some quiet reflection.

Soochipara Waterfalls – The Three-Tiered Wonder

Also known as Sentinel Rock Waterfalls, Soochipara is a three-tiered cascade hidden inside a dense forest. The short hike down required careful footing over slick rocks each step amplifying the adrenaline. At the cascade’s base glacial waters shocked my skin as the base was icy cold but refreshing. The sound of the falls drowned all thoughts of mine it was just pure therapy.

Attamala Viewpoint – The Hidden Gem

Unlike the crowded viewpoints, Attamala was peaceful, with just a few locals around. The rolling hills and distant waterfalls made it feel like a scene from The Sound of Music. It is perfect for sunset photography. Sat on a rock sipping coconut water watching the sky change colours. The cool breeze and solitude made it my favourite spot.

As I traced my journey back from misty peaks to emerald forests, I realized Wayanad isn’t a place you merely visit it’s a place you live. To truly sync with its rhythm, you need mornings that begin with birdsong, afternoons spent lounging by a lakeside, and nights where the only light comes from a sky dense with stars.

At Sterling Wayanad, my days ended with the same untamed beauty I’d chased outdoors waking up to fog-laced windows and a silence so deep it felt like the hills were whispering secrets. It wasn’t just a stay it was a bridge between adventure and comfort letting me explore freely while returning to a space that honoured the landscape.
