Bollywood has been an essential part of every Indian’s life. Not only does it entertain, but it also inspires you to travel around the world. What’s more, you can be inspired to travel and virtually visit all the places while sitting in a movie theatre in your locality or your house in front of the TV.

Bollywood always had some love affair with exotic locations. Initially, the Bollywood directors used to shoot only songs at these places. However, nowadays, entire movies are being set up in exotic destinations that will inspire anyone to travel. So, here are some movies that have given us serious travel goals.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Three friends on a bachelor party-cum-road trip across Spain – isn’t that a real inspiration to take that long-pending road trip? From the peaceful valleys to the madness of La Tomatina festival to the bull fighting, everything was there.

No wonder Spanish visas were suddenly in massive demand among honeymooners and even solo travellers. Be it scuba diving or just roaming around the beautiful city, this movie gave us some far-reaching travel inspirations.

 Tamasha

In the opening few minutes of the film, our very own Shimla can be seen at its beautiful best. Shimla, the place, where Ranbir’s character, Ved, gets his inspiration to become a storyteller was something that travellers loved to visit ever since the movie got released. Imtiaz Ali chose the never seen before facet of this beautiful hill station.

Imtiaz Ali did the same with Europe Travel. The international portions of the movie were shot in Corsica, an island in the Mediterranean Sea, which was not that famous among Indians. However, after the film’s release, everything got changed. There are many people, whom I know, are planning a trip to Corsica.

 Anjaana Anjaani

The film had a beautiful cast, along with much-adored cinematography and a poignant story. The camera moves through narrow streets along with sky-high buildings to beautiful seas.

When the lead couple takes a road trip to Los Angeles, we see what the US has been hiding from rest of the world. The desert where the song ‘Hairat’ as filmed has since become a hot favourite travel destination among travellers.

 London Paris New York

As the title suggests itself, the film is based on three cities and shows the characters as they change and keep running into each other over the years in those three cities. The cinematographer of the film has done an excellent job of exposing the serene beauty of these places to Indians.

Be it the love city Paris, the most happening New York, or the elegant London, each city has something to offer, and this movie captured that to the fullest.

 Dil Dhadakne Do

This family drama film is based around a family on a voyage towards Greece, where most of the movie is shot. Greece – the place where the lead characters fall in love with each other while roaming around – is indeed exquisite. Greece is shown at its exotic best in those minutes, and the cinematographer deserves a standing ovation for making the Indian travel lovers drool.

The film despite being a family drama attracted many young audiences. All credits to the mysterious beauty of Greece.

Rockstar

Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar talks about a young lad Jordan and his journey to stardom. The major portions of the movie were shot in the fascinating city of Prague, Czech Republic. The lively song “Hawa Hawa” and “Aur Ho” were shot on the scenic spots that make us wonder why we have not backpacked to Czech already!

Well, hit the roads as soon as you can. A perfect honeymoon destination, Czech Republic has a lot to offer. If the two of you have an eye for architectural marvel, then Prague is indeed the place to be. Guzzle a beer or more in the pubs, and go gung-ho singing Bollywood numbers.
