Chembra Peak
The Chembra peak with a height of 6,890 feet is one of the tallest peaks in the Western Ghats, and it is a popular place for trekking. The Chembra peak is situated around eight kilometres from Kalpetta. The trek to the Chembra peak is an enchanting experience, and one gets spectacular views from the top of the peak. There is a unique lake which is in the shape of a heart on the way to the Chembra peak. It is said that the heart-shaped never dries up. Soochipara Falls
The Soochipara waterfalls are three-tiered falls that are situated near the village of Meppadi. Water cascades down from a height of about six hundred and fifty feet. The waterfalls make for an enchanting sight. Also, the place offers some exquisite views of the tea gardens that dot Wayanad.
Pookode Lake
Very near the Vythiri town lies the Pookode Lake at an altitude of about seven hundred metres. It is a freshwater lake beautifully nestled in the midst of forests and framed by mountain slopes. Banasura Dam
The Banasura Dam is located around fifteen kilometres from Kalpetta and is the second largest earthen dam in Asia. The Dam offers some spectacular views of the waters of the Karamanathodu, which is a tributary or the Kabini river set against the background of the picturesque Banasura hills. The dam is a popular tourist destination. People flock here for the views of the Banasura hills and the picturesque views all around. Speed Boating is another attraction that draws tourists to Banasura Dam. Apart from speedboats, pedal boats are also available to cruise on the placid waters.
Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary
The Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary also referred to as the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is a large sanctuary which is home for animals like tigers, bison, panthers, bears, elephants, and many more. The Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary is part of the Nilgiri Bio Reserve along with the Bandipur and Nagarhole National Parks which fall under the state of Karnataka.
