Durpin Monastery (2.9 km) crowns the ridge above, Deolo Hill (11 km) opens up the widest Himalayan panoramas in the district, and the resort's position on the circuit between Darjeeling (69 km) and Gangtok (83 km) makes it a natural pause between two of the region's best-known hill stations.

Know More
This quaint former regal residence was the summer home of the royalty of Dinajpur, and in the 1960s it was bought by Mr. G.P. Yonzone, a local businessman, for his wife Smt. Devi Maya, a popular Nepali writer and scholar settled in Kalimpong. Redesigned later as the Kalimpong Park Hotel, it became a landmark destination in its own right and a favourite stop-over for travellers drawn to its vintage charm and heritage. Today it holds all of that character intact, while Sterling's Discoveries and Experiences open up the local art, culture, cuisine, history and nature of the hills, so a stay doubles as an introduction to the best things to do in Kalimpong.
Know more about the Discoveries & Experiences at Sterling Park Kalimpong
Spring and early summer are the peak season and the best time to visit Kalimpong, with comfortable temperatures of roughly 15°C to 28°C. This is when the town's celebrated orchid, cactus and flower nurseries are in full bloom, and clear mornings deliver the sharpest views from the hilltop.
The monsoon season brings heavy rain, drifting cloud and deeply green hillsides, with temperatures generally between 15°C and 25°C. Tariffs ease and the town empties out, though the NH10 route along the Teesta is prone to disruption, so build buffer time into travel plans and check road conditions before setting out.
October and November bring the clearest skies of the year and are prized for uninterrupted Himalayan panoramas. From December to February, Kalimpong in winter stays crisp and cold at around 5°C to 15°C, ideal for slow days by the fireplace, unhurried heritage sightseeing and quiet mornings on the lawn.
For the clearest Kanchenjunga views and the most comfortable sightseeing weather, plan between March and May or October and November. Views are best in the early morning before cloud builds, so plan Deolo Hill and Durpin Monastery first thing, and carry warm layers through the year for hilltop evenings.
Guests choose Sterling Park Kalimpong for its hilltop position above the town, the sweeping Himalayan and Kanchenjunga views, the vintage charm of a 100-year-old residence and the warmth of a team that keeps stays running smoothly. Being one kilometre from the main town yet entirely removed from its noise is consistently appreciated by travellers. As one guest shared,
