Nature Park And Punganoor Lake: Recipes For A Lazy Afternoon
Yelagiri Nature Park consists of a nursery, a rock garden and an aquarium. It also has lovely picnic spots. Across the road is the Punganoor lake with serene boat rides and is a great spot for bird watching and photography.
The Nature Park in Yelagiri is spread across an area of nearly 12 acres. It serves as a perfect picnic spot to laze around in the sprawling greenery. The park consists of a children's area, nursery, rock garden and an aquarium.
Across the road is Punganoor Lake, a man-made water body that is approximately 20 ft deep. At the entrance to the nature park, there are rows of shops that sell spices, toys and homemade chocolates. One can go boating in the lake or visit any of the gaming zones nearby.
The lake too has a garden of its own, a children's park and a kilometre long walking path. It is a great spot for birding and photography. A few birds that can be spotted in the area include red-vented bulbuls, red-whiskered bulbuls, rose-ringed parakeets, purple-rumped sunbirds, white-bellied drongos, Indian robins and white-browed wagtails.
