Pilgrimage circuit

Palakollu is the land of fascinating mythologies. Thus, Sterling Godavari has curated a one-day spiritual sojourn for the travellers to explore the lores & legends of this land. The first stop is in the Ksheerarama temple in Palakollu. This temple is one of the famous Pancharama Kshetras in South India. The legend goes that Lord Kumara Swamy destroyed Tarakasura along with the Shivalingam he wore. To prevent the pieces of the Shivalingam from uniting, he fixed it in the place they fell and started worshipping them, giving rise to the Pancharamas. It’s said that one can see the ocean from the top of the temple’s gopuram – that’s how tall it is.

But this isn’t the tallest surprise. The 90-foot tall alloy statue of Goddess Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari at the Vasavi Rushigotra Suvarna Mandiram is the next stop. Made of panchaloha, the idol is golden in colour and makes for a magnificent sight. This idol has been revered as the goddess of peace and harmony since the 11th century AD.
