Nestled in the foothills of the Eastern Ghats, Yelagiri was once the private property of the Yelagiri Zamindar family, before being acquired by the Government of India for development in the 1950s. The cluster of 14 villages that make up Yelagiri is still home to tribal communities who subsist on honey collection, forestry, horticulture and agriculture.
The numerous hairpin bends along the picturesque mountain road make the drive to Yelagiri thrilling and the seemingly endless view of green alleys, orchards and rose gardens is sure to take your breath away. Yelagiri is also a very popular destination for trekkers.
