The Siruvani Experience

Siruvani-Bhavani confluence is a great picnic spot. At times animals such as elephants may decide to join the party.

The Siruvani Experience

Siruvani, considered to be the second sweetest river, is a tributary of Bhavani River, which in turn is a tributary of Cauvery. After splitting from Bhavani higher and deeper in the forest, Siruvani joins her parent once again, near the rocky valley of Koodapatti. It is at this confluence point where the two rivers meet, that the river comes alive, presenting a unique world of its own.

A picnic at the spot is enjoyable and easily arranged. The river is not immediately visible through the thick growth of white lily plants near Koodapatti village. It takes a short walk through the lily fields to see the river flowing gently through the rocky plains.

Though the tribals can be seen going about their daily chores by the river, further up, it becomes more ominous as the woods become denser. A few animals such as elephants maybe sighted, if they decide to make their way to the river, during your visit.

While Siruvani can be quite ferocious during the monsoon, it is by and large a placid river that flows at a gentle pace. In many places, the water is shallow enough for children to play. As the day gets warmer, the water gets cooler and more inviting. A journey to Anaikatti is not complete without a few hours by the Siruvani.
