Sri Ramana Ashramam
This is the ashram which was the home to the modern sage Sri Ramana Maharishi, who was popularly regarded as an avatar and enlightened being by many devotees. His shrine attracts devotees from across the world.
As a boy of sixteen in 1896, he challenged death by a penetrating enquiry into the source of his being. Later hailed as Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi he revealed the direct path of practice of self-enquiry and awakened mankind to the immense spiritual power of the holy Arunachala Hill, the spiritual heart of the world. His teachings have spread across the world, and to this day, devotees from around the world flock to the ashram seeking knowledge and tranquility. The ashram is where Ramana Maharishi lived for 55 years, and is located at the base of the Arunachala Hill.
