Kiliyur Falls: Cup of Joy Spills Over
A 2.5 km trek away from the Yercaud Lake, is the beautiful Kiliyur Falls. This is where the excess water from the lake falls into a gorge 300 feet below.
The emerald-green Yercaud Lake spills over and falls down 300 feet into the Kiliyur Valley, as the gorgeous Kiliyur Falls. The fall is a 2.5 km trek from the lake, the final 500 meters being a challenging walk through an unpaved rocky path.
Panting, palpitations, and aching feet -nothing can take away from the sheer magnificence of the sight that meets the eye. It is at once serene and rugged, elegant and rustic; Kiliyur defies descriptions.
A visit to the Kiliyur Falls is therapeutic. The sound of falling water, refreshingly clean air and the sheer beauty of the surroundings make the spot a perfect getaway for those fleeing urban stress.
A visit to the falls after the rains can be a special treat. In fact, the best time to make a visit to this lake is after the southwest monsoon or the northeast monsoon when plentiful water lends strength to the falls. Experienced trekkers can hike through the thick forests to reach the base of the falls. A safe dip at the base completes a truly memorable experience.
