Kasol: All Hebrew
Given the number of Israeli visitors and Hebrew signboards, Kasol can be mistaken for a village in Israel. Except that the beauty of the place cannot be replicated; Kasol could never be anywhere, but in the Himalayas.
The snow-clad Himalayas, the verdant landscape, clear blue skies and low population density, make Kasol a delightful destination. What adds to the quirkiness of this remote Himalayan village, sitting prettily in the lap of the Parvati Valley, is the number of Israelis tourists and Hebrew signboards.
What draws the Israelis and other foreigners to this place is a somewhat puzzling matter. Perhaps it is the playful and clean Parvati gurgling by. The open spaces by the bank of the river have now become party spots. The village lends itself equally to walking, hiking and a quiet commune with nature.
Eating at Kasol is also an exciting experience; the village is a global menu card. Right from continental dishes to Tibetan delicacies, the visitors are spoilt for choice. This region remains accessible throughout the year, but spring is the most beautiful season. Between March and April, Manali is a carpet of white and pink Apricot blossoms.
